Restaurants

Why should I participate in Keep BR Serving?

Local restaurants should participate in Keep BR Serving as a means to increase cash flow and support servers during this unprecedented time.

Is there a fee to participate in Keep BR Serving?

There is no fee to participate in the project. However, there is a nominal transaction fee of $1 per transaction plus 5.9%, which includes all credit card processing fees and e-commerce hosting charges. On a $25.00 sale, a restaurant will receive $22.52 directly into their bank account.

What do I need to do to register for the program?

  • Go to https://keepbrserving.com/#register and fill out the registration form.

  • After your online store is created, you will receive a text or email instructing you on how to receive your sales proceeds through credit card payment processor, Stripe:

    • If you currently have a Stripe.com account you will be able to connect it and immediately begin receiving gift card payments in your bank account.
    • If you do not have a Stripe.com account, you can follow a few simple steps to create an account or a KBRS representative can walk you through setting that account up.

How will my restaurant receive payments?

You will receive payments directly into your restaurant’s bank account. All restaurants will need to connect a Stripe.com account to the platform to be able to receive payments. Stripe.com is an industry standard platform for payment processing online.

  • If you do not already have a Stripe account, Stripe will require you to provide the following information:

    • Business type
    • Tax ID
    • Business addresss
    • Business website
    • Your legal name
    • Your date of birth
    • Last four digits of your social security number
    • Business name and phone number to show on customer's credit card statement
    • Your bank details including account number and routing number

How do I handle the post-sale process?

Each restaurant can handle the post-sales process however they choose. Restaurant owners should log into the Keep BR Serving ecommerce system with the provided login credentials and familiarize themselves with the "Orders Manager."

What do I do if I do not already have a formal gift card or gift certificate program?

If a restaurant DOES NOT HAVE a formal gift card or gift certificate program, the restaurant can manually record each Order Number and the amount for each respective sale in a secure and accessible location. The emailed receipt and Order Number should serve as the egift certificate, and the restaurant should accept the emailed receipt as cash. The restaurant will have to record each sale in a ledger, including the Order Number and amount. The restaurant would either eliminate the Order Number after it is used, or reduce the sale amount from the remaining balance. The method for manually tracking Order Numbers is ultimately up to each restaurant.

What do I do if I already have a formal gift card or gift certificate program?

  • If a restaurant does have a formal gift card or gift certificate program, after receiving each order, the restaurant should mail or allow for pickup the equivalent number of physical $25 gift cards or $25 gift certificates. We suggest including a standard letter thanking the customer for supporting the restaurant during these trying times. The letter should clearly state the emailed receipt will not serve as the egift certificate. After each new sale, the incoming order is initially marked "Pending" in our system. After mailing the gift cards or gift certificates, the restaurant should mark the order as "Completed." This will help the restaurant keep track of which orders were mailed/picked-up.
  • A restaurant could also text a coupon code to a customer depending on the restaurant's POS system. For example, a POS system may have coupon capabilities providing a $25 cash discount. Upon receipt of an order in the system, the restaurant owner would create a one-time use coupon code and assign it a value of $25.00. The restaurant would text this coupon code to the buyer's mobile phone.

How do I receive KBRS promotional materials?

Upon successfully registering for the program, you will receive a link to access promotional materials for the program for use on your social media platforms from one of our program contacts.
